Since 2000 he is a Full Professor of Organic Chemistry, School of Sciences, University of Firenze.

His scientific activity focussed on medicinal chemistry and synthetic organic chemistry.

He was Responsible Scientist for several research projects supported by Academic or Government Institutions and by International and National Pharmaceutical Companies. Member of Italian Chemical Society, Division of Organic Chemistry, and Member of the Organizing Committee of Italian School A. Corbella in Organic Synthesis.
