Anna Teresa Palamara
Degree in Medicine at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, 1982. PhD in Dermatology at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, 1985. Since 2003 she is Professor of Microbiology at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”.
Her activity mainly focused on virus-host cell interactions, particularly the identification of intracellular factors involved in the control of viral replication and in the inflammatory response to specific viruses, as potential targets for innovative antiviral strategies; the role of microbial agents in the pathogenesis of chronic degenerative diseases; identification and characterization of novel natural and synthetic compounds with antiviral activity.
She is a member of the Italian Health Council at the Ministry of Health. She is President of the Italian Society for Microbiology.
